About Devicescape
Devicescape's vision is a world of billions of connected devices, whose value to people is in the service which they provide. These service-enabled devices are often personal and mobile, with a common requirement that they need network access in order to work well. Although this is a common vision, Devicescape's spin is that Wi-Fi can represent an incredible infrastructure for this connectivity. Wi-Fi has the advantage of being hugely popular, deployed most places where people go, and (most of the time) free or very low cost.
Our goal is to harness all the Wi-Fi in the world to provide a global platform for device access. We've assembled a unique virtual Wi-Fi network which is huge and very inexpensive to use. We curate this network in our Cloud: running algorithms on it to make it high quality, safe to use, and automatic to access. Think of this as 1000x times bigger than a typical commercial network and 1000x times cheaper to operate! Our business model is to license this network - the Devicescape Network - to device manufacturers and service providers so that they can make better connected products and services. This is a huge and exciting value proposition.
We are headquartered in San Bruno, California. The company is privately held and backed by tier 1 venture capital including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, August Capital, Enterprise Partners, and JAFCO.
