Devicescape is seeking an experienced systems engineer to drive automation and quality of service for Devicescape’s cloud platform. This team will build out capabilities to manage our cloud-based offering, derive value from the data it generates, and be the experts on all of Devicescape’s cloud-based assets. This role will require creative problem solving, engineering focus, and the willingness to jump in on live-site issues.

Responsibilities

Success in the cloud is all about automation and insight. As the Systems Engineer you will keep our focus on driving more and more automation into the system while having all the data we need to quickly respond to issues in an increasingly automated fashion. Our service is hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), and job 1 is making sure we never have the need to log into individual servers again. We believe in administration of the Service, not of individual instances.

Core tasks include:

• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot AWS cloud-based Linux systems for lab, staging, and production service environments
• Provide performance analysis and solve complex systems administration issues, with a focus on preventing future service interruptions
• Share responsibility for availability, reliability, and performance of production services

Requirements

• Linux system-level experience a must
• Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and managing common open-source automation; Puppet strongly preferred
• Proficiency with technologies such as MySQL, scripting, and Amazon Web Services
• Experience supporting high-traffic web services with complex architectures and understanding load balancers, Nginx, Java, Tomcat, Apache, Ruby on Rails, or similar technologies

Popwifi is now emerging from closed beta to widespread deployment and so Devicescape seeks a Product Manager (PM) to define and drive product definition, marketing, and community activities for the Popwifi service. The role forms a critical interface between Engineering, Marketing and Sales functions. The PM must be able to grasp and translate technical features and capabilities into compelling value propositions and benefits, craft messaging and positioning, and work with internal and external teams to effectively tailor, refine and drive adoption of a new product into a very large user base.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop the core value proposition, positioning, messaging for Popwifi, including segmenting for different audiences.
• Develop product roadmaps, PRDs and product go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute.
• Develop and analyze Popwifi metrics for the purpose of improving the customer value proposition, the crowd sourcing of customers and the end-user experience.
• Develop supporting material for the web portal and other assets.
• Interact with and support the growing Popwifi community of venues and end-users.
• Help define product business model and pricing strategies.
• Perform competitive and market intelligence analysis.
• Deliver effective presentations and product demonstrations as needed to support analyst, press, partners and customer meetings.

Requirements

• Must have proven experience with mobile apps and/or web-based product. In particular consumer-facing ‘ecosystem’ products (e.g.: combination of mobile applications and web-based portals interacting with cloud based platforms).
• Demonstrated success defining, launching and growing great products that make a difference and have solid revenue underpinnings; fast failures understood.
• Background in freemium/prosumer segmentation and a data-driven approach to improving conversions.  Strong expertise in iterative improvement techniques.
• Technically strong.  Experience in AGILE product development; proven ability to work with and positively influence cross-functional teams.
• Hands on, adaptable, action- and results-oriented, self starting, unstoppable!
• Like startups and all that they entail – doing a lot with a little.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
• Minimum of six (6) years experience as a Product Manager.  Less if there is relevant experience in a related field.

Job Responsibilities

The Development Manager is responsible for managing a team of US based software developers who are building Devicescape’s mobile products and SDKs. Responsibilities include day-to-day people management, hiring, project management and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a development manager in a related space

The TAM (Technical Account Manager) is responsible for building and maintaining post sales relationships with Devicescape’s operator customers. The TAM will ensure the successful implementation and deployment of Devicescape solutions within operator accounts.  In these accounts, the TAM will act as a trusted advisor and will serve as the single point of contact regarding any technical or service needs of the customer. Ultimately the TAM is responsible for the operational health of the Devicescape customer.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with Devicescape Sales and Devicescape Sales Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of pre-sales accounts to post-sales, production deployments.
• Serve as the intermediary between the operator customer (operations and product development) and Devicescape internal teams (engineering and operations).
• Define and manage the processes and project plans for delivering custom Devicescape solutions to operator customers.
• Take the lead in hosting regular operational/status calls with the operator customer.
• Manage customer trials of Devicescape solutions.
• Serve as the customer advocate, representing customer needs to Devicescape management.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of the product platform.
• Develop and document best practices for customer on-boarding.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing complex mobile software or embedded software, primarily at the system level rather than apps, and preferably for a mobile-related technology vendor (apps, operating-system, or network operator). Knowledge of both C and Java is required. Experience working with Android / embedded Linux is an advantage.

The QA Engineer for mobile products is a member of the UK Engineering team, with direction coming from the US-based Client QA team, which is responsible for testing the Devicescape Curator Client. The Curator Client provides an innovative data offload solution and service for mobile network operators, reducing their 3G/4G data costs.

The successful candidate will be comfortable with fast-paced start-up environments and be committed to developing high-quality products aimed at providing a high level of customer value.
