Specifying Your Rebranding Requirements
Devicescape can provide basic rebranding or more extensive rebranding for the Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP Administration UI, Online Help, and Documentation based on end-product requirements and contractual agreements. The following sections outline the information and items Manufacturers typically need to provide to Devicescape for products getting "basic" rebranding. (Details of a more extensive rebranding will be handled on an individual basis.)
Administration UI Rebranding
For basic rebranding of the Administration UI, Devicescape needs color schemes, fonts, logo images, copyright information, product names, and company-specific details for some of the Panel Help pages. Devicescape will perform a draft rebranding based on the information and images the Manufacturer provides, and submit the UI to the Manufacturer for review. One or two review cycles are generally enough to finalize the UI, particularly if the specifics are identified early in the process. The information and items that Devicescape needs from the Manufacturer are keyed to following picture of the AP Administration UI and described in detail below.

Task
Description
1. UI Banner
The UI Banner is displayed on the top of each tab in the Administration UI. By default, the banner is a jpg image. You can provide us with any of the following for rebranding of the UI Banner per your corporate branding:
- Banner image (
gif, jpeg/jpg, png, etc.) to replace the Devicescape default banner image.
- Color scheme, text content, and font details by which Devicescape can implement the UI Banner as a colored background with text layover.
2. Logo
Depending upon how you implement your corproate branding, the logo may be a separate image (gif, jpeg/jpg, png, etc.) that you provide along with the Banner image or description, or it may be incorporated as a part of the UI Banner image.
Generally, it is best to provide Devicescape with a separate logo image even if it is also incorproated into the Banner image because it may be needed for other aspects of rebranding.
3. Product Name
Provide product name(s) that you want incorporated into the UI and specify where and how they should appear. Generally, the full name of the device including reference to the company name is shown on the UI Banner. (For example, Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP.)
Like the logo, the Product Name on the UI Banner can either be part of the Banner image itself (included in the image you provide to us) or it can be a text overlay where the Banner image is used as a background image.
In either case, provide Devicescape with the exact full text (with any trademark or copyright markings) as it should appear on the UI. If the Product Name is to show on the banner as a text overlay, send additional detail on font style, sizing, and so on.
4. Color Scheme, Fonts, and Style
Provide details on the following "look-and-feel" stylistic aspects of the UI:
- Color Scheme - Specify exact colors for the UI based on your Marketing or Corporate branding requirements for this product. If you do not have exact color defintions (for example, Hexidecimal color codes for HTML), Devicescape can provide some subtle variations to choose from based on your logo colors but the more specifics you provide, the better.
- Fonts - If you want something other than the fonts already provided by the Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP Administration UI, please specify.
- Style - Provide any other UI style requirements you have that differ from the Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP UI default look-and-feel.
5. Copyright
Provide the exact content for the copyright line to be displayed in the lower left of every Administration UI page.
For example, Devicescape's copyright is shown on the UI as: Copyright © 2005 Devicescape, Software, Inc. All rights reserved.
6. UI Style Switch Feature
Devicescape can provide a feature that allows the end user (Administrator) to choose from one or more UI themes. If you would like this feature included on your end-product, please specify this early in the software development cycle.
For more information about this feature, see Configuring Basic Settings in the Administrator's Guide. The style switch feature is described in the topic "Viewing the User Interface with Different Colors and Style".
7. URLs, Filenames for Panel Help
The Online Help "panel" on the Administration UI includes some links and information that are company-specific, such as support information for the end-user. Provide information for these items:
- URL where users can download a firmware upgrade ( for example, Firmware upgrades are available at http://www.devicescape.com/)
- Format of the Firmware upgrade file, if this differs from the Devicescape default (
<FileName>.upgrade.tar)
In general, the panel help will be updated to match your customized Administration UI.
Online Help and Documentation Rebranding
Devicescape provides rebranding of the Online Help that accompanies the Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP Administration Web pages, and can also provide some rebranding and customization of the full AP Administrators Guide, depending on the terms of the purchase agreement. (See also Documentation Re-Use Kit for Devicescape Customers in "About this Document" the Administrators Guide.)
Administrators Guide and Online Help
Devicescape provides both an Administrators Guide and Online Help with the Devicescape Enterprise-Managed AP, along with inline "panel" help on the Administration UI.
- The Online Help (which is a subset of the full Administrators Guide) is shipped in HTML format as a part of the binary for your customized AP software. We do the re-branding and customization on the Help, per your rebranding requirements as described below.
- The Administrators Guide is created in FrameMaker files, which are the source files for both the full Administrators Guide and for the subset content which is generated as HTML "Online Help". Devicescape can provide the Administrators Guide in FrameMaker and PDF. We can also rebrand (replace Devicescape product name with the name of your AP; replace screen snaps of Devicescape brandied UI with your UI; add, remove, or reorganize topics per your customized AP tab sequence, and so on) per your documentation requirements. Generally, customers opt to obtain the FrameMaker source files for our Administrators Guide with some level of customization already applied and then customers finish out and publish the book themselves.
Rebranding Requirements
Manufacturers generally need to provide the following information to Devicescape regarding the details of Online Help and Documentation rebranding.

Task
Description
1. Online Help Banner
The Online Help Banner is displayed on the top of each Help page. By default, the banner is a gif image. You can provide us with an alternative Help banner per your corporate branding (gif or jpg) or we can produce a customized help banner for you with your product name in place of the Devicescape product name.
2. Product Name
In the Online Help, the product name is used both on the Help banner and in content. We will try to match this requirement to what you have provided for the Administration UI. Please specify exactly how you would like the product referred to in each of these components:
3. Color Scheme for Help Banner, Navigation Buttons and Tables
We can modify the color scheme of the Online Help based on your branding requirements. Please provide us with examples or Hex codes for the color scheme you would like to use in your product Online Help.
At a minimum given no further direction, we will try to match the Online Help color scheme to match the colors you requested on the Administration UI. (See Online Help and Documentation Rebranding.)
4. Copyright Information
Provide the exact content for the copyright line to be displayed in the copyright line at the bottom of the Online Help Window, and in the Administrators Guide trademarks page.
For example, Devicescape's copyright is shown on the Online Help as: Copyright © 2005 Devicescape Software, Inc. All rights reserved.
(This is similar to the copyright information required for UI rebranding as described in Administration UI Rebranding.)
