Linksys WIP300 Phone

The Linksys Wireless-G IP Phone is a VoIP phone that, with the Devicescape service and a VoIP provider plan (such as provided by the Gizmo Project) can make VoIP calls directly from a hotspot. If you have the Linksys Wireless-G IP Phone, you can enable you phone as follows:

Prerequisite:

1. Logon to www.devicescape.com and click on Downloads.
2. Under Linksys WIP300 click on Download firmware upgrade image(s) now.
   A Devicescape-WIP300.zip opens. This .zip contains the bootcode image and the firmware you will need to update your WIP300 phone.

Update the Bootcode

Follow these steps to update the existing bootcode.

Note: Bootcode update allows the Devicescape image to be installed on the Linksys phone. This is a one time requirement requirement to activate the Devicescape service on this handset. You will not need to do this again, even if you need to upgrade the firmware.

1. Type the IP Address of the phone into your browser. The Wireless Network Status page opens.
   
2. Type admin in the Username and the Password textbox. Then click Submit.
   
3. Click on the Bootcode link. From the Bootcode Information page you can download the bootcode image.
   
4. Click Browse and locate the boot image you downloaded earlier. Then click Upgrade to upgrade your phone with the latest bootcode.
5. Now you need to update the firmware on the device.

Update the Firmware

Follow these steps for updating the firmware on your phone.

Note: The Firmware update installs the latest Devicescape software for the Linksys WIP300 phone. This process may be repeated as new releases of the application become available.

1. Type the IP Address of the phone into your browser. The Wireless Network Status page opens.
   
2. Type admin in both the Username and Password textboxes. Then click Submit.
   
3. Click on the Software link. From the Software Information page you can download the latest firmware.
   
4. Click Browse and locate the firmware you downloaded earlier. Then click Upgrade to upgrade your phone with the latest firmware.
   Note: The upgrade process can take up to 3 minutes and sometimes more depending on how busy the network traffic is.
5. Once the download is successful the phone will prompt you to restart it. Click OK to restart the phone.
6. Now you need to register your WIP 300 device under your Devicescape account. Browse to www.devicescape.com and login using your username and password. Once logged in, you will see you have a device registration pending. Click confirm now to register the device.
   
   NOTE: You must complete registration at www.devicescape.com within 5 minutes of upgrading the device. If you fail to do this within 5 mins, you will not see Device Registration Pending. In this case you will need to reboot your device and try again.
7. The Complete Device Registration page opens. You need to enter the password of the device. The password is the IP Address of the phone. You can find this on the Device itself.
   
8. Click Confirm to confirm registration. You should now see your device listed under My Devices.
