Devicescape Teams Up with The Cloud
By Anshu Shrivastava TMCnet Contributing Editor
The Cloud, a European-based independent wireless broadband provider, has announced that it has teamed with Devicescape Software, to power its service called “mycloud.”
Launched this week in beta form, mycloud facilitates the use and mass market adoption of wireless broadband. The new mycloud connector is expected to “simplify the Wi-Fi
user experience by providing seamless log-on to home, office, public access and free networks, without complex registration requirements or hidden costs.”
The Cloud said that it will be using Devicescape Connect Service for its new “mycloud” service to allow customers to connect to all of The Cloud's 10,000 hotspots across the U.K., Germany, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands and Norway.
The Devicescape Connect Service automatically connects subscribers’ Wi-Fi devices to The Cloud and other European networks.
Initially, this service is expected to be offered on select networks to beta subscribers, and the company plans to eventually roll out to the full footprint of Cloud hotspots.
“By working with Devicescape we have been able to develop a comprehensive and transformational Wi-Fi service,” said Steve Nicholson, CEO at The Cloud.
He also said that for the first time, mycloud will bring seamless access across the entire range of Wi-Fi locations in Europe, providing access for the masses and changing the traditional model for Wi-Fi connectivity.
Introduced earlier this year, Devicescape Connect Service for operators provides integration of cellular and Wi-Fi services, which according to the company, “increases the number of users and number of sessions, brings new types of devices onto their networks and reduces support costs.”
“Devicescape provides a simple and secure means to connect any device to any network enabling network operators to improve the consumer experience, load balance their traffic and grow the value of their Wi-Fi service,” said Dave Fraser, CEO at Devicescape.
