DEVICESCAPE LAUNCHES WIRELESS INFRASTRUCTURE PLATFORM 2.0

Wireless Device Manufacturers Now Empowered to Deliver Enterprise-Class Wireless LAN Capabilities to Any Organization

BRISBANE , Calif. - June 28, 2005 - Devicescape Software, a leader in software for wireless devices, today announced the general availability of the Devicescape™ Wireless Infrastructure Platform 2.0. For the first time, device manufacturers can easily create full-featured wireless access points that fulfill the promise of an office without wires for any organization, regardless of that organization's IT staff or budget.

According to Jupiter Research, nearly 80 percent of large U.S. companies have deployed wireless networks. However, due to the complexity, cost and time associated with building and managing wireless networks, penetration is much lower among small-to-midsize businesses that do not have the IT staff or budget to utilize the current generation of access points. Now, with Devicescape Wireless Infrastructure Platform (WIP), manufacturers such as U.S. Robotics can develop and offer full-featured, enterprise-class access points for any size organization that are secure, easy-to-manage and that seamlessly integrate into existing networks. In addition, vendors of specialized Wi-Fi equipment, such as hotspot and public-safety infrastructure, can now use Devicescape WIP to leverage high-end WLAN features into their products.

"Devicescape enables companies to quickly bring to market wireless access points with enterprise-class capabilities at a low cost, which is important in the development of high-value, full-featured wireless products," said Dan Budinger, Product Manager at U.S. Robotics. "Devicescape's reputation and expertise in the industry, as well as its affiliation with the Wi-Fi Alliance, make its software a natural choice upon which to build more robust, wireless business solutions."

A growing number of device manufacturers are using Devicescape WIP to easily develop and deploy access points with enterprise-class features, including:

"Many businesses often find the productivity benefits of wireless are overshadowed by setup and maintenance headaches," said David Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. "With Devicescape WIP, device manufacturers can now make it possible for any organization to very simply build and manage a secure wireless network, the first critical step to establishing a devicescape."
