INSTANT802™ NETWORKS SELECTED FOR WI-FI ALLIANCE CERTIFICATION TEST BED
Leading-edge, standards-based security and multimedia wireless technology
Brisbane, CA, - October 21, 2004/PR Newswire - Instant802 Networks, Inc., a leading supplier of wireless software for device manufacturers and service providers, today announced that their software has been selected for the test bed for certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Instant802 Networks is the first and only independent software company to have its software designated as part of the reference standard access point which will be used to test other companies for certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Other products in the test bed include wireless cards from Intel, Atheros and Realtek and reference designs from Broadcom, Cisco, Phillips and Conexant.
The Wi-Fi Alliance is a global non-profit organization formed in 1999 to certify interoperability of IEEE 802.11 products and to promote them as the global, wireless LAN standard. The Wi-Fi Alliance is comprised of over 200 member companies offering over 1500 Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ products around the world.
Instant802 Networks has been selected for the test bed for both WPA2™ (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) and WMM™ (Wi-Fi Multimedia). WPA2 is a security standard based on the ratified IEEE 802.11i specification that deploys the most advanced encryption techniques a requirement of many enterprise organizations seeking interoperable Wi-Fi technology based on the full IEEE 802.11i standard. WMM provides users with enhanced voice and audio visual capabilities in line with the emerging IEEE 802.11e standard. Consumer electronic product manufacturers can now include Wi-Fi in their product plans backed by the assurance of certified interoperability.
