Devicescape Shortlisted as Finalist in 2014 CTIA Awards

The Devicescape Service Platform nominated for ‘In-Building Wireless’ category

SAN BRUNO, Calif., 9 Sept, 2014 — Devicescape today announced that its Wi-Fi Service Platform has been shortlisted for a CTIA Emerging Technology Award in the ‘In-Building Wireless’ category.

The Devicescape Service Platform (DSP), in commercial use by telecom operators across North America and Europe, includes a Curator Client, Curator Cloud, and a Curated Virtual Network (CVN) of more than 20 million amenity Wi-Fi hotspots. The DSP enables telecom operators to monetize the entire smartphone experience by using a seamless blend of all available Wi-Fi and cellular to ensure subscribers are ”always best connected”.

The nomination recognizes the importance of Wi-Fi to the smartphone user experience, particularly for in-building coverage where cellular cannot always provide the best data connection. The Devicescape Insight Service reports that Wi-Fi is now the dominant means of smartphone connectivity, accounting for more than 65% of all smartphone data traffic, and that Wi-Fi traffic is growing faster than mobile traffic, including LTE.

The DSP has been deployed by leading Wi-Fi First players, mobile network operators, MVNOs, and device manufacturers around the globe. From these deployments, Devicescape currently manages more than two billion monthly consumer Wi-Fi connections and monitors over 315 million Wi-Fi hotspots in total.

The Emerging Technology Awards are part of CTIA’s Super Mobility Week, which will take place 9-11 September 2014 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday, 10 September, at 12:30pm.
