Devicescape to Deliver New Levels of Intel(R) Ultrabook(TM) and Tablet Connectivity

Intel(R) Smart Connect(TM) Enhancements Will Improve User Experience While Mobile

SAN BRUNO, CA, May 30, 2012 — Devicescape, the WiFi offload company, today announced that the company is working with Intel to deliver enhanced connectivity for Intel-powered mobile devices, including Ultrabook(TM) devices and tablets. The relationship will utilize Devicescape’s Curated Virtual Network (CVN) of millions of hotspots all over the world. Working as part of Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology, applications such as email and social networks will be able to seamlessly access these hotspots to update content while the mobile device is in “sleep” mode.

“Smartphones have changed end-user expectations around their device experience, and elements of the mobile experience will naturally make their way into personal computers and tablets. These devices shouldn’t be offline but should be capable of reaching a network automatically to allow for syncing information and notifications,” said David Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. “Intel-based devices will now be able to use our global WiFi Offload Network to do exactly that.”

Analyst Daryl Schoolar of Ovum commented, “The combination of Devicescape’s connection manager and virtual WiFi network will make it easier for laptops to find and connect to millions of different hotspots. The inclusion of Devicescape’s technology into Intel’s Smart Connect will help make portable devices like laptops and tablets much more mobile.”

Over the last decade, leading device manufacturers have utilized Devicescape’s WiFi connectivity service to enhance the value of their devices while improving the user experience. The relationship with Intel will allow Intel WiFi products wider internet coverage for applications to provide the user fresh data when they power on the system.
