Devicescape Agent Connect enables a wireless device to automatically login to a Wi-Fi hotspot or municipal network.Whenever a device running DSA Connect software is within range of a public Wi-Fi network, it will contact the Devicescape Server for information on how to login. DSA Connect sends the unique device ID and the identity of the network to our server, which responds with the appropriate username and password, and a script that instructs the device on how to navigate the login web pages. Or, in the case of free Wi-Fi hotspots, all that must be returned to the device is a script to navigate the captive portal splash pages. |

As a device manufacturer, your consumers can enjoy an “always on” experience when using your mobile wireless device products. You’ll save on the cost and effort of embedding cumbersome browsers into your devices, and your users won’t need to take complicated actions in order to get connected. Your devices will be easily updatable with simple changes on the Devicescape Server, rather than with complicated and risky firmware upgrades. And, you’ll have the opportunity to form important new business partnerships with network operators who manage hotspot and municipal networks.
Prior to first use at a hotspot, a device must be registered at the Devicescape Server. This can be accomplished by the device user, or on their behalf by a service provider or other third party. Users can manage all their Devicescape-enabled devices and wireless services at the Devicescape Server via a simple, private webpage. |

The DSA Connect module is a very thin client application (about 50 KB in code size), making it easy to incorporate into a device software design. Access credentials and splash page navigation scripts are stored on the Devicescape Server and supplied to a mobile device as needed. This allows networks to be added or updated immediately. Devices don’t have to retain large databases of network information in their flash memory, and there’s no need to undertake complex firmware updates across all fielded devices. Simply update data on the Devicescape Server (to add a new hotspot network, for example), and all devices can immediately benefit from the change. Device manufacturers can embed DSA Connect into existing or new device software designs. DSA Connect can be adapted to any device operating system and processor, and can work in conjunction with any Wi-Fi supplicant, including the Devicescape Agent Supplicant. |
