Devicescape Wireless Operations Center

Devicescape Wireless Operations Center For OEM Applications

Enhance Your Product Line with a WLAN Help Desk System

Devicescape offers the Wireless Operations Center under an OEM licensing model whereby our OEM customers can add a customized and re-branded version of the system to their own product lines. We work with vendors of access points, WLAN switches, network management systems and other systems to help them integrate WOC into their product portfolios.

Customize WOC to Your Specific Requirements

The WOC system architecture enables OEM developers to build custom graphical user interfaces and extend the core functionality of the system. As a Java-based client-server application with well-defined interfaces, WOC enables developer to extend the system with their own custom Dashboard views and custom applications that take advantage of Repository data. Device adapters can be added to accommodate devices having proprietary MIBs or reporting protocols. Network devices supporting standard SNMP MIBs require no effort to be added to the list of supported systems.

Message-Driven Architecture

WOC uses the design patterns of modern platform software throughout its components. The central Repository is driven by updates and changes that emanate from the network devices, implemented using a message-based core. The Dashboard, and all extension modules, are in turn clients of the Repository, driven in the same way by its messages. This creates a proven environment for incremental development. New device handlers, data mining services, and display features can be added quickly by third-party developers with confidence.

Java Platform Implementation

The choice of Java as the implementation platform provides a robust environment for the addition of new capabilities. Java’s portability, strict modularity, memory safety, and rigorous exception handling allow rich extensibility without risking system integrity.

Unified Model of Network Activity

All devices, whether their reporting protocol is SNMP, syslog, or a proprietary protocol, are treated identically within the Repository. This enables system tools, as well as custom extensions, to be written concisely, independent of device, brand, and protocol issues.

Devicescape provides deeply experienced developer support and professional services to assist OEMs in customizing WOC. We offer developer support via telephone, email and online resources. We can also deliver professional development services to help OEMs customize WOC to their precise requirements and accelerate time to market.
