Windows Expert


As the chief Windows guru at Devicescape, you will be responsible for all the hairy Windows and Windows Mobile code we have to deal with. That includes in depth knowledge of Win32, COM, and .NET. You do not only understand how to write cool consumer facing apps with the IDE more importantly you also know how to dive deep into the system and write system services and deal with various networking and security protocols.

You're the kind of person who is up to date on MSDN articles. You love to innovate and making Devicescape Connect a first class application both for the Windows Desktop and Windows Mobile platforms sounds like a lot of fun.

Requirements

  • Incredible coding skills. Your friends and coworkers describe you as an "animal." Your programming ability is way above average, as demonstrated by a continuous string of successful projects.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Permanent legal right to work in the US or Canada.
  • Very occasionally, may involve work after normal business hours, and being on-call.
  • This position is either in our HQ office in San Bruno, CA or in our satellite office in Calgary, Canada. No telecommuting.

Sr. Engineer J2EE


Devicescape Software, Inc. has a full-time opportunity for an energetic, experienced and ambitious J2EE developer. If you consider yourself a top candidate in the field of web and web services technology, and have experience with large scale deployments, we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

In this position you will be designing and implementing business logic, web services and applications for this new category of Service Enabled Devices. Candidates should have prior experience with developing a commercial, production grade web site and its server backend functionality using J2EE infrastructure and technologies.

  1. Your main focus will be on design and implementation of server side functionality (e.g. business logic, web services).
  2. Appropriate documentation, planning and timely delivery of your software components is expected.
  3. Participation and contribution of your innovative ideas in software reviews and discussions is a must.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent conceptual design and implementation skills
  • Expert programming skills in Java, PHP, C and other languages

Product Manager


Devicescape is the leading provider of Wi-Fi security and connectivity solutions to handset, PC and consumer electronics manufacturers. We are seeking an experienced product manager to help drive Devicescape’s product development strategy and execution.

Headquartered in San Bruno, California, the company is privately held and backed by top tier venture capital including Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, August Capital, Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, and JAFCO Ventures.

Devicescape’s primary business model is licensing software to handset OEM’s, to companies creating products for the PC ecosystem, and to consumer electronics manufactures of mass-market CE devices.

Details of Responsibilities

The Product Manager is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and strategic goals are met.

The Product Manager responsibilities include:
  • Gathering product requirements and producing MRDs, PRDs and Use-cases that accurately define product requirements
  • Developing business cases for potential new products and strategies
  • Developing an analysis of the marketplace, including analysis of Devicescape’s competitors
  • Creating the core messaging for Devicescape’s products
  • Creating sales collateral, including presentation and data sheets
  • Managing a contract web developer, and owning the management of the Devicescape BtoB website content
  • Presenting Devicescape’s product vision to customers, the media and to analysts

Required experience and knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Manager in the embedded, wireless or consumer electronics space
  • A history of developing and launching successful software products
  • Experience with contemporary product development lifecycle processes
  • Leadership and initiative to get the job done independently
  • Good presentation skills, especially in front of customers
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Solid technical background, with a basic understanding of terms like TCP/IP, DNS, 802.11, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, VoIP etc.
  • Proficient at Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Desire to work in a small startup environment and take on multiple responsibilities
  • Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred)
