Prepaid carrier Cricket is looking to offer its subscribers a Wi-Fi solution through a partnership with Devicescape.

According a press release, Cricket has deployed Devicescape’s Curator Service to provide “offload services and capacity-reach.” Cricket customers now have access to the Devicescape Curated Virtual Network (CVN), which includes over 16 million Wi-Fi hotspots.

Devicescape’s Curator Client works with the company’s cloud-based Curator Service Platform to identify available connections and proactively connects, including auto-navigation of click through portals.

Today’s announcement comes as part of a wider partnership with the Competitive Carrier Association (CCA), which represents smaller regional and rural carriers.

The CCA announced a strategic partnership with Devicescape that will allow CCA carrier members access to to Devicescape’s network.

CCA President and CEO Steven K. Berry said in a statement that partnering with Devicescape is a win for smaller operators that might not want to incur the costs associated with rolling out a Wi-Fi network of their own.

“Devicescape’s services manage operator data traffic leveraging curated public Wi-Fi, and we are pleased that our members have the opportunity to take advantage of their innovative services,” Berry said.
